MIFARE® DESFire® card programmer for the MmSID System


The MM-A70 is a MIFARE® DESFire® (EV1, EV2, EV3) card programmer designed for the MicroMade Secure Identification System (MmSID). It enables the construction of an access control system with the highest security grade, level 4.

Every MmSID system installation is based on cryptographic keys generated locally during the system’s configuration. The keys for card programming, derived from these main keys, are delivered as a certificate from the MmSID KeySafe to the MM-A70 programmer. These keys are fundamental for preparing cards for a given installation.

Purpose of the Programmer

The MM-A70 programmer prepares cards to achieve the highest possible security level:

  • The card identifies itself with a random ID.
  • Only the AES128 algorithm is used (DES algorithms are not used).
  • Individual cryptographic keys for the specific installation are utilized.
  • The keys for authentication/reading data from the card are diversified – a different set of keys is used for each card.
  • Data on the card is signed and encrypted (CMAC_CTR mode with the AES128 algorithm).
  • Cards are programmed according to the controller’s requirements (necessary data is saved, e.g., the index assigned to the card user).

The programmer connects to a computer’s USB port. It is designed in a thin, credit card-sized housing. On the side of the programmer, there is a two-color LED to indicate the correctness of the RFID card read.

The programmer is ready to use as soon as it is connected to the computer (it does not require the installation of additional drivers). It connects to the computer using a USB-C cable.
