Weatherproof OSDP reader for MIFARE® 13.56 MHz cards

The MM-R70 is a weatherproof RFID reader for MIFARE® 13.56 MHz cards. The reader can work with any controller that uses the OSDP protocol (EN 60389-11-5).

The reader was designed to operate within the MicroMade Secure Identification System (MmSID). This allows for the creation of an access control system with the highest possible security grade, level 4. Depending on the configuration, the reader can read and transmit the following to the controller:

• Encrypted data from MmSID installation cards (MIFARE® DESFire® type cards)
• The unique identifier (UID) of MIFARE® proximity cards (in accordance with the ISO/IEC 14443A standard)
• An identifier from the MmId app on an Android smartphone

Reader configuration

MM-R7x series readers can be configured even after installation and connection to the OSDP bus. This is done using a special interface called MmSID Manager, which can search for all readers connected to the controller’s OSDP bus. It can then set the desired transmission speed, assign individual OSDP addresses required by the controller, and transmit the cryptographic keys needed to read cards for a given installation.

The MmSID Manager is operated using the MmSID Config software.

Installation

The MM-R70 reader is weatherproof and can be installed both indoors and outdoors. It features a durable, aesthetically pleasing housing made of ABS plastic. All electronic components are sealed with wepuran resin. This technology allows for the reader to be mounted directly on a metal surface without a loss in card reading range.

The reader is equipped with an inductive anti-tamper sensor. The housing design allows for direct surface mounting on a wall, mounting on escutcheons designed to match interior decor, or recessed mounting directly into a plaster wall, aluminum profile, or machine housing. The reader can also be mounted using a 32 mm wall installation box. For surface mounting, a spacer matching the reader’s color can be used.

The reader is available in three colors: black (C), graphite – lava (L), or cream – light (J). It comes standard with a 0.5m connecting cable, but readers with a longer cable (up to a maximum of 5m) can be ordered.
